Scanned documents and PDFs full of photos are often far bigger than they need to be. The RIZONI TOOLS PDF Compressor offers three levels, from a gentle clean-up that keeps text selectable to strong compression for the smallest possible file.

You see the original size, the new size and the percentage saved before you download. If a file is already well optimized, we tell you honestly and give you back the original.

Why use PDF Compressor?

  • Get under typical e-mail attachment limits (often 20–25 MB).
  • Upload documents to government, university or job portals that set small file limits.
  • Save storage space and make files faster to open on phones.
  • Compress confidential documents without sending them to a third-party server.

How the three compression levels work

Basic re-saves the PDF with a more compact internal structure and removes unused objects. Text, links and vector graphics stay exactly as they were, so it is safe for contracts and forms — but the size reduction is usually modest.

Recommended and Strong redraw each page as an optimized JPEG image (at about 144 DPI and 96 DPI respectively). This can shrink scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs dramatically. The trade-off is that text becomes part of the image: it can still be read, but no longer selected, searched or copied, and form fields and links are lost.

Which level should you use?

For documents that you or someone else will need to search, copy from or fill in, use Basic. For scans, photographed pages and brochures you only need to view or print at normal size, Recommended is usually the best balance. Use Strong when the file absolutely must be as small as possible.

If your PDF contains mostly text created on a computer, it is probably already compact. In that case compression may not reduce the size much — that's normal, and our tool will keep your original.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing my PDF reduce quality?

Basic compression does not change what you see. Recommended and Strong reduce image resolution and convert pages to images, so fine details become a little softer and text is no longer selectable.

Why didn't my PDF get smaller?

Some PDFs are already efficiently compressed, especially text-only files exported from Word or Google Docs. If compression can't make the file smaller, RIZONI TOOLS returns your original file.

Is there a size limit?

Each PDF can be up to 50 MB. Very large files may need a computer with enough memory, because compression runs on your device.

Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

No. Remove the password with your PDF software first, then compress the file.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. Compression happens in your browser, so your PDF stays on your device.
