Fixing text copied from PDFs

PDFs store text line by line, so copied paragraphs are often broken into short lines. Turn on Join lines into one paragraph together with Collapse multiple spaces to rebuild flowing text.

Invisible characters — such as zero-width spaces and soft hyphens — are common in text copied from web pages. They can make identical-looking words fail to match in searches or spreadsheets. Remove invisible characters is on by default for this reason.

Frequently asked questions

Will the cleaner change my words?

Only if you choose options that remove content, such as punctuation, numbers or emojis. The default options only fix spacing, empty lines and invisible characters.

How does removing duplicates work?

Lines that are identical after trimming spaces are removed, keeping the first occurrence. Empty lines are handled by their own option.

Is stripping HTML safe?

Yes. HTML is parsed as inert text only to extract its words; no scripts are run.

Can I sort a list alphabetically?

Yes. Tick Sort lines A → Z. Sorting follows your language's alphabetical rules.

Is my text uploaded?

No. All processing happens in your browser.
